Donnie Allison is one of the original three members of the "Alabama Gang". He is Bobby's younger brother, Davey's uncle and father and father-in-law to Hut Stricklin.

From 1966 to 1988 Donnie had his share of racing success on the NASCAR Grand National and Winston Cup circuit. Donnie Allison guesses he has won anywhere from 450 to 600 races during his successful career.

Donnie followed brother Bobby into NASCAR'S Grand National Division in the late 60's after earning more than 200 victories on some of the south's most famous short tracks between 1963 and 1968. Allison who was rookie of the year in 1967, had 17 poles and 10 victories, including the 1977 Talladega 500, the 1976 National 500 at Charlotte and the 1971 Winston 500 at Talladega from the pole.

Until 1993, he was the only "first true" driver to complete all 500 miles of the Indianapolis 500 (1970) finishing fourth, and then later that day won the World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway another feat not matched to this date.
