Lorenzen recorded 26 wins in his career. He was the first driver in NASCAR to win over $100,000 in a season, claiming $113,570 driving for the legendary Holman-Moody team in 1963. He is considered one of the most capable drivers in NASCAR history. In 1964 Lorenzen won eight of the 16 races he entered and finished 13th in the points despite not running in 45 of the 61 events held that year.
