After winning four straight NASCAR Winston Cup Series events at Talladega Superspeedway, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was enshrined in the Talladega-Texaco Walk of Fame in nearby Davey Allison Memorial Park.  On September 27, 2003, on the eve of the 2003 EA SPORTSTM 500, Dale Jr. was inducted into the Walk of Fame after receiving the most votes by the fans.

This is the quickest any of the eligible drivers have been inducted into the Talladega-Texaco Walk of Fame.  This is only Dale Jr.'s fourth full season in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.  His father, Dale Earnhardt, was the first active driver to be inducted into the Walk of Fame, in the inaugural class of 1995.

The 2003 ceremony marked the 10th anniversary of Davey Allison's death.  Joining emcee Benny Parsons on stage were Larry McReynolds and special guests Liz Allison, along with children Robbie and Krista Allison.

Dale Jr. is a two-time NASCAR Busch Series champion. He won NASCAR's all-star race, The Winston, in his rookie season.  In his second full season on the circuit, Dale Jr. won three races, including the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway and the EA SPORTSTM 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.  He swept Talladega in 2002 and won his fourth straight Winston Cup event at Talladega this past April in the Aaron's 499.

Going in to the 2003 EA Sports 500, Dale Jr. and his No. 8 Dale Earnhardt Inc.-owned Budweiser Chevrolet team were in third place in the Winston Cup points race.  He had previously finished with a dozen top 10 finishes during the 2003 season and had been in the top 10 in points for 16 consecutives races.
