With only THREE weeks remaining in the Talladega-Texaco Walk of Fame
voting race, Morgan Shepherd has nosed his bumper in
front of Michael Waltrip. But if they're not
careful and they keep battling for the lead, Kasey Kahne
is going to over take them because he's coming on fast.
The biggest mover over the last week was again Morgan Shepherd,
with Kasey
Kahne and Ryan Newman holding their own. Drivers
that continued their slow down over the
same period include Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Burton
and Robby Gordon. It is still anyone's race though
with three weeks of voting remaining so tell your fellow fans
to log on and vote!
The race for Inactive Driver continues to be led by
Jim Paschall but Jack Smith is making a last ditch
effort to overtake the leader.

Davey Allison Memorial Park - Talladega, Alabama |
|
Davey
Allison won his first NASCAR Winston Cup race at his "home
track", the Talladega SuperSpeedway on May 3, 1987.
He was the only driver in NASCAR Winston Cup History to win two
races and five poll positions in his first season on the world's
most competitive racing circuit, and was honored as the series'
Rookie of the Year.
In 191 races spanning only five
complete NASCAR Winston Cup season, Davey earned 19 victories,
including the 1992 Daytona 500, to rank fifth among active
drivers. He was the first driver to win The Winston
all-star race two years in a row, and was honored as the 1992
Driver of the Year by the National Motorsports Press
Association. In 1993, Davey brought special honor upon
himself as winner of the International Race of Champions series.
The motorsports world, Texaco,
and surrounding communities, will always remember Davey as a
true Alabama Sports Legend, who not only made outstanding
contributions to the sport of professional automobile racing,
but who also brought honor to the State of Alabama as result of
his personal and professional excellence.
This Park is dedicated to the
memory and accomplishments of Davey Allison: husband, father,
son, Friend and Driver of the #28 Texaco Ford
Thunderbird. Known as the one of NASCAR's greatest
champions, Davey's outstanding contributions to the sport of
professional automobile racing during his early career laid a
foundation of promise for years to come. Tragically, that
promise was to go unfulfilled upon his untimely passing on July
13, 1993.
Davey Allison always emulated
the proud, fiercely competitive tradition of racing's famous
"Alabama Gang" led by his legendary father
Bobby. Beyond his competitive and indomitable winning
spirit, a tireless devotion to his sport and its fans was an
abiding kindness and compassion for all.
Even as we mourn his death, we
give thanks unto God for the life of David Carl "Davey"
Allison. For his friends at Texaco, his family and fans
alike, it was an honor to be associated with one of the finest
young men we have ever known.
